A tradition: Listening to the Indy 500 on the radio.

A late race due to a train delay. Dan predicts three more turn one crashes.

Helio is in 12th place. The kid might win again? I listen with half an ear to the radio, which is really far to chatty for me today., but I hear all Dan’s stories. Which turns he’s watched from (enjoy point of turn four) and all the big wins.

125 in .. I’m ready for a nap. “The last 25 are the best.” Dan gives me an ok

well, drift anyway…. Up for a snack or ostensibly to clean house a bit … and I come out to “three laps to go.” Pato O’Ward has the lead … Nope. Newgarden. The top five also include Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, and Alex Palou.

Anti-climatic finish here at the HARN but exciting for the repeat winner. We all had a better day than Honda though, eh?

The kid finished 20th. Noblesville native Conor Daly finished 10th.

Next year, I’ll still be rooting for the kid riding the bike… in racing shoes.
